Good afternoon Gemsta Users,
Following last month's ramble about Open folders I am happy to announce that they are now live! Each folder that you create, be it a Private, Friends or Public, can now be opened up to any of your Gemsta Friends to contribute to. By 'Opening' a folder up to another user they will immediately see it in their folder list on the toolbars, bookmarklet and in Save, perfect for building a resource with the help of friends, family or colleagues!
Another add-on went live at around the same time, the ability to add Groups to place your folders into. We had received feedback from a number of our users requesting the option of sub folders and could understand the need but had some reservations due to the current permissions structure that's used on the site. So to keep the sharing permissions in place we developed Groups as an organisational tool!
We'd love to hear your feedback on both of the above features so don't be shy, good or bad, we want to know!
Big news on the way, so keep checking the blog!

Collaborate with Gemsta
Good afternoon,
I thought I'd let you into a little secret surrounding Gemsta and your ability to collaborate with other users to build up resources.
You've known for a while that you can enable another Gemsta user to view what you are saving simply by 'friending' them through the site and setting up a folder between friends. Well we have been busy working on a new feature that will allow more than 1 user to share a folder a folder and both post resources into it, just think of the possibilities!!
Don't worry, toolbars and bookmarklets won't be affected so no need to re-install anything - keep a close eye on the blog over the next few days to find out when this exciting new features goes Live!
Speak again shortly,
JF

Import Your Bookmarks to the Cloud
Guys and Girls,
The moment you have all been waiting for is here, the Bookmarks Importer is live!
http://save.gemsta.com/import
Offering support for Firefox, IE, Safari, Chrome and Opera, this simple process imports all of your previous bookmarks into your Gemsta account allowing you access from any machine, anywhere on the planet!
Given all the speculation surrounding Delicious, we decided at the last minute to include support for Delicious bookmarks so if you're worried about losing your data, let Gemsta manage them for you.
For those of you unsure how to export your current bookmarks from either your browser or Delicious then full instructions are offered for each - it shouldn't take you more than 5 minutes!
We'd love to hear your feedback on this new feature so if you have any suggestions then please don;t hesitate to let us know.
Till next time,
JF

Upgrade to Gemsta Services
Good morning all,
As you are aware, we carried out some essential maintenance on the site that resulted in a little scheduled downtime yesterday - Apologies if any inconvenience was caused.
The good news is that the upgrades have taken place successfully and we are running faster than ever. If you've not been on to the site since, go and check it out for yourself, we hope you'll agree that it's a marked improvement.
As with any major upgrade there is the potential for some minor bugs to present themselves so please let us know if you spot anything - tech@gemsta.com
Enjoy the upgrade,
JF

Happy New Year
Hello and a Happy New Year from the Gemsta team!!
We hope you all had a great festive break and now that a new year is upon us I thought I'd let you into a little secret relating to a new feature that is very close to going live!
As regular users will know, storing your bookmarks in the Gemsta Cloud has its advantages, they're accessible anywhere and can be shared to friends and colleagues with ease, but what about those bookmarks you had before Gemsta???! Rather than go through them one by one adding them into your Gemsta account we thought you guys would appreciate a simple tool that did the whole job for you, so the Gemsta Bookmarks Importer was born!
In the final phases of development, this feature will allow you to easily import your existing bookmarks to your Gemsta account and we hope to offer support for the big 5 browsers!!
Not long to wait now, watch this space!

Check out our new look!
Hi Guys & Girls,
If you've not been on the site for a while then you are in luck because we've decided to make a few changes to brighten things up and make the whole service a little more user friendly! Long term users will know that we get pretty restless when it comes to design so it comes as no surprise that we have had a quick pre-Xmas freshen up - Check it out, we'd love to hear your feedback?
Another bit of good news is that we have implemented OpenID so new users can access the service using their login credentials from a host of big names, Google, Yahoo, Facebook and more!! So next time you're sharing content on Gemsta, your friend, colleague or family member can use one of their existing accounts to log in and interact with you - no more registration forms, no more excuses!
In the coming weeks we are looking at making some subtle user interface changes to further simplify the site and we would welcome any recommendations that you may have.
Speak soon,
JF

Gemsta Update - It's about time, Sorry!!
Hi Guys,
It's been a while since we last updated you all as to what's been going on in the land of Gemsta. Myself and the team have been ultra busy completing the current development work on site as well as running some promotional events that has seen Gemsta at a number of the Freshers Fairs throughout September.
James told you back in August that we had completed the SAVE section of the site allowing you to organise your weblife in one place! Well, I'm pleased to now announce that SHARE is alive and kicking too which means you can access other websites and content from Gemsta users as well as collaborating on topics with family, friends or colleagues! Check out the site today and see what our users are sharing, you may just find that Gem you've been looking for!
Meeting students at the Freshers events was great, we were overwhelmed with the enthusiasm for the site and had much fun! Once we demonstrated the key Gemsta features we signed up a huge amount of new users, so big thanks to you all.
As usual, you can keep up to date with Gemsta through the social networks and we would love to make friends with you on Facebook and/or Twitter.
Right then, back to work - JF
